Nissan is helping Renault to develop new segment in their lineup. Trucks are not familiar to fans of French carmaker. However, it is about to change with this cooperation. New 2017 Renault Alaskan is ready to compete. Pickup is bringing the best of both companies. Luxury features comes from Renault, of course. On the other side, Nissan is well-known of its functionality. Pairing these two elements makes Alaskan very attractive and interesting at same time. Truck won’t go into US market at the beginning, but we expect it soon to head to North American dealerships.

Under the hood of the 2017 Renault Alaskan is a  inline-four engine. There is also five-link rear suspension, raising quality of ride. Because of this feature, passengers will now enjoy in drive with less vibration. Also, engine works smoother and produces less noise. With this drivetrain, new Alaskan truck can tow up to 2,205 pounds, or 1.1 tons in its bed. This is quite impressive comparing it to older and more famous pickups. Furthermore, its overall hauling capacity is 7,716 pounds, which is less than rivals can do. However, since it is still fresh on the market, it is excellent result.

There are no doubts about styling of the 2017 Renault Alaskan. However, truck is very similar to Nissan Navara. This pickup is used as mannequin for French model. Nevertheless, there are parts that make Alaskan unique and more stylish than its sibling. For example, Renault added horizontal inserts to its grille. Also, there is big badge up front. More angular bumper and headlights are also new. Then we have side steps for safer entrance. Inside the cabin, new pickup offers latest infotainment features and equipment. Safety is at first place. Heating, ventilation and air conditioning controls are simple. Comfort is at highest level, as it is expected from Renault.

Main competitors of the 2017 Renault Alaskan are going to be refreshed editions of 2018 Toyota Tacoma and 2018 Ford Ranger. French truck will follow them in price, with starting value of around $35,000. However, top of the class models from two rivals go over $45,000. We doubt that Renault will follow these trends.
